Fan Flow Simulation

Our client for this project is a startup specializing in the design of lottery machines. Their product is an automated machine that uses air pressure to move lottery balls. During testing, the client found that the existing fans were unable to blow the lottery balls effectively. Therefore, they wished to use CAE analysis to select the appropriate fan specifications and improve the design of the air outlet.

After evaluating the requirements, our engineers made initial modifications to the air outlet design (referred to as 'wind cone' below). The client provided three fan specifications, and the simulated requirements are as follows:

  • Flow speed and flow pressure without the wind cone (original design).
  • Flow speed and flow pressure with the wind cone (design change).
  • The fan specifications are 9CRD0412P5G03, 9CRD0412P5J03, and 9CRE0412P5J03.

From the above requirements, we can see that without CAE analysis for simulation, it would be necessary to create two physical models and then install different fan specifications separately for testing, which would need to be repeated at least six times. If the results are not ideal, it may require reevaluating the design, creating models, and conducting testing, which results in a significant consumption of development time and costs. Through CAE analysis, we can obtain simulation results quickly and explore feasibility. If the results are favorable, we can then proceed to create physical models for verification, thus reducing development time.

The CAE analysis results indicate that the pressure within the design with the wind cone is higher than without the wind cone. Therefore, it can be determined that the design with the wind cone is more suitable. Furthermore, the comparison of the three fan specifications reveals that the 9CRE0412P5J03 fan provides superior air pressure compared to the other two. It is recommended to proceed with the development using this model.
