Pet Accessories Design: Pet Bowl Aesthetics
Not just a bowl—keeps your hands clean and your heart warmer.

A pet bowl is not just a feeding container for your furry friend; it also reflects the owner's taste and care for their pet. A well-designed pet bowl can blend aesthetics with functionality, becoming a stylish piece in the home while meeting your pet's needs. FIPEA is honored to undertake the pet bowl design project for a renowned South African pet brand.
In designing pet bowls, the source of inspiration is crucial. It might come from the pet's habits, a special story, or even a memorable experience. These can all serve as starting points for the design. For example, the Meoof Bear Bowl is a perfect blend of cute appearance and practical functionality. Inspired by the image of a bear, it not only looks adorable but also seamlessly integrates into the home environment, becoming a charming decoration.
Starting from the details of daily life.
In our daily interactions with pets, feeding is an action that every owner repeats countless times. Often, picking up or setting down the pet bowl can result in handling leftover food or water, leading to dirty hands and an inconvenient experience. Therefore, the design focus for this project is driven by this simple yet essential need: a pet bowl that is easy to handle and won't dirty your hands.

Design key elements.
We first focused on the grip design of the pet bowl. Traditional pet bowls often overlook the need for a comfortable handhold, causing users to accidentally touch the inside of the bowl during each feeding, resulting in food or water getting on their hands. To improve this experience, we designed two different shapes specifically to address this issue.
Design 1: Stainless Steel Material with Handle The first design features stainless steel as the primary material, inspired by the classic flat-bottomed pan. We incorporated a sleek handle on one side of the bowl, making it easy for users to hold. This design not only effectively prevents hand contact with the bowl's interior food but also emphasizes stability and durability. The stainless steel material is scratch-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean, ensuring that the pet bowl remains practical, clean, and hygienic over time.

Design 2: Ergonomic Hexagonal Gradient Round The second design focuses on ergonomic principles, particularly improving the edges of the bowl base. We used melamine as the material and designed a bowl base with a hexagonal structure, incorporating through-holes on both sides to allow easy handling from any angle, preventing fingers from touching the inside of the bowl. This design not only enhances the ease of grip but also ensures the bowl remains stable when placed, reducing the risk of accidental spills by pets. The hexagonal gradient round shape also adds a visually soft touch, allowing it to seamlessly blend with various home decor styles.

A design philosophy that merges aesthetics with practicality.
These two designs not only address common issues in daily use but also blend aesthetics with functionality, making the pet bowl a highlight in the home. We hope that through these innovative designs, we can enhance the interaction experience between owners and pets, making each feeding time a more enjoyable and effortless experience.
